O'Neill went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Sunday against the Yankees. O'Neill's two-run blast was the culmination of a nine-pitch at-bat and represented the only runs the Red Sox would muster on the day. The homer was O'Neill's 31st of the season, the second time he's reached the 30-homer threshold in his career and leaving him just three shy of matching his career high that was set in 2021.

The long ball was the veteran outfielder's fifth in his past five games, and he's also collected nine RBI during that span. The hot stretch has elevated O'Neill's homer total to 30 on the season -- the second time in his career he's reached that threshold.

O'Neill is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. O'Neill started the past seven contests after missing a couple games due to finger inflammation, but his absence from Sunday's series finale is maintenance-related, per Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe. Rob Refsnyder will start in left field and bat third against Detroit opener Beau Brieske.
