  • Zack Godley: Surfaces in indy ball
    By RotoWire

Godley signed a contract Tuesday with the Gastonia Honey Hunters of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. After the Reds released him from his minor-league deal in late May, Godley was unable to find another opportunity in affiliated ball, so he'll head to the independent ranks to continue his downward-trending career. Since turning in a 3.55 ERA over 155 innings with the Diamondbacks in 2017, Godley has spent time in six organizations while logging a 5.57 ERA across 302.1 innings in the majors over parts of the past five years.

Godley signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Sunday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Godley made two major-league appearances for the Brewers last year but pitched mainly at the Triple-A level. Across 21 appearances (18 starts) in the minors during the 2021 campaign, he logged a 4.39 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 98.1 innings. It wouldn't be surprising to see the right-hander invited to big-league spring training if it occurs in 2022.
