Godley signed a minor-league contract with the Athletics on Tuesday. Godley had been pitching with the independent league Gastonia Honey Hunters. The 33-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2021 and hasn't seen extensive action at the big-league level since 2019.

Godley signed a contract Tuesday with the Gastonia Honey Hunters of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. After the Reds released him from his minor-league deal in late May, Godley was unable to find another opportunity in affiliated ball, so he'll head to the independent ranks to continue his downward-trending career. Since turning in a 3.55 ERA over 155 innings with the Diamondbacks in 2017, Godley has spent time in six organizations while logging a 5.57 ERA across 302.1 innings in the majors over parts of the past five years.

Godley was released by the Reds on Wednesday, Doug Gray of RedsMinorLeagues.com reports. Godley joined the Reds on a minor-league deal in February, but he's now been let go less than two months into the season. The veteran right-hander had a 6.64 ERA, 2.19 WHIP and 26:19 K:BB across 20.1 innings with Triple-A Lousiville.

Godley signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Sunday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Godley made two major-league appearances for the Brewers last year but pitched mainly at the Triple-A level. Across 21 appearances (18 starts) in the minors during the 2021 campaign, he logged a 4.39 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 98.1 innings. It wouldn't be surprising to see the right-hander invited to big-league spring training if it occurs in 2022.

The Mets released Godley on Monday, Steve Adams of MLBTradeRumors.com reports. Godley's stint in the Mets organization lasted just three weeks. He made four appearances for Triple-A Syracuse, compiling a 2.33 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over 19.1 innings. He's now been cut loose from three organizations in the past two months after previously getting released by Milwaukee and Cleveland.
