The Brewers optioned Jay to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday. The left-hander was called up by Milwaukee on Saturday and delivered a scoreless frame in his Brewers debut. Jay will head back to the minors a day later to free up a roster spot for trade-acquisition Nick Mears.

The Brewers recalled Jay from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. Milwaukee swooped in and traded for Jay shortly after the left-hander was designated for assignment by the Mets on July 17. With southpaw Bryan Hudson (oblique) heading to the injured list, Jay will join the 26-man roster. The 30-year-old surrendered four runs in 4.2 innings with the Mets but was much more effective at Triple-A for New York, holding a 2.40 ERA in 41.1 innings.

The Brewers acquired Jay from the Mets on Sunday in exchange for minor-league pitcher TJ Shook, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Jay was subsequently optioned to Triple-A Nashville. Jay was designated for assignment by New York on Wednesday, and Milwaukee elected to acquire him via trade rather than risk another team claiming him off waivers. The left-hander has just three big-league appearances under his belt but has pitched to a 2.40 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 30:4 K:BB across 41.1 innings at the Triple-A level this year.

The Mets optioned Jay to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. The 30-year-old had his contract selected by New York on Sunday and appeared in Monday's matchup with the Nationals, allowing four runs (three earned) in two-thirds of an inning. Jay will return to Syracuse, where he has a 2.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB across 36 frames this year.

Jay cleared waivers Friday and was sent outright to Triple-A Syracuse, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Jay allowed one earned run in four innings during his first career stint in the majors, and he will officially remain within the organization but no longer hold a spot on the 40-man roster. The 30-year-old southpaw has thrown 5.2 scoreless innings in Triple-A this season, and he could re-earn a roster spot if he continues to find success in the minors.
