Diaz signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Tuesday. Diaz, 27, slashed .278/.374/.484 with 16 home runs over 94 games with Double-A Tulsa in the Dodgers organization last season. The shine has long since worn off since his top prospect days, but Diaz is still fairly young and the Giants felt he was worth a no-risk flier.

Diaz agreed Friday to a minor-league contract with the Dodgers that includes an invitation to spring training, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Diaz returns to the organization that originally signed him out of Cuba in 2015, before being one of the top names dealt to the Orioles for Manny Machado at the 2018 trade deadline. The outfielder has made just one plate appearance in his MLB career and has registered a .261/.340/.410 slash line over parts of six minor-league seasons. He's a long shot to make the big-league roster and is likely ticketed for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Diaz opted for free agency Thursday, per Triple-A Norfolk's transaction log. Diaz was outrighted to Norfolk on Thursday, but he'll now have the opportunity to find a new team. He made his debut in the majors with the Orioles in 2022, though his stint with the big-league club lasted only one plate appearance.

Diaz cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. The 26-year-old received his first taste of the majors in 2022 but appeared in only one game as a pinch hitter. Diaz had a .252/.350/.362 slash line with six home runs, 34 RBI and nine steals in 70 games at Triple-A Norfolk.

Diaz was returned to Triple-A Norfolk following Sunday's win over the Red Sox, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports. Diaz was called up as the 27th man for Sunday's Little League Classic but didn't enter the matchup. He'll head back to Norfolk, where he's slashed .238/.327/.343 with four homers, 29 runs, 21 RBI and seven steals over 25 games.
