  • Falter did not factor into the decision in Sunday's loss to the Yankees, allowing four earned runs on four hits and three walks in three innings. He failed to record a strikeout. Falter's first two pitches of the contest were both laced for extra-base hits -- a double by Gleyber Torres and a two-run shot by Trent Grisham. Falter never fully recovered, allowing two more runs in the third inning before being pulled after 62 pitches. The 27-year-old started a career-high 28 games for the Pirates in 2024, finishing with a respectable 4.43 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 97:45 K:BB in 142.1 innings. Although the southpaw showed improvement from previous seasons, his paltry 6.3 K/9 (eighth percentile) made him a low-upside fantasy option.

  • Falter (8-8) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.2 innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Cardinals. Falter had gone 4-0 with a 4.46 ERA over his last eight outings. He was not the Pirates' problem Tuesday -- a lack of offense was the cause of this loss. For the season, Falter has a 4.15 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 92:41 K:BB across 134.1 innings over 26 starts. He's tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Brewers as he continues to audition for a spot in the Pirates' 2025 rotation.

  • Falter did not factor into the decision in Friday's 10-8 loss to Cleveland, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over four innings. He struck out two. The 27-year-old struggled out the gate, allowing a two-RBI double to Josh Naylor in the first inning to open the game's scoring. After allowing two more runs in the fourth inning, Pirates manager Derek Shelton had seen enough and didn't allow Falter out for the fifth, even though he'd tossed only 59 pitches. The Pittsburgh southpaw has pitched to 4.41 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 81:34 K:BB across 116.1 innings in 23 starts this season. He currently lines up to make his next outing at home against the Nationals.
