Bednar posted a 2.19 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in the regular season after joining the Yankees at the trade deadline and figures to be manager Aaron Boone's go-to option in save situations for the remainder of New York's postseason run.

The right-hander was tasked with protecting a one-run lead and worked around a leadoff walk to Adley Rutschman by punching out two of the next three hitters to close the door. The 30-year-old has been great of late, allowing just six baserunners over his last 10 appearances while converting seven saves in that span. Since joining the Yankees, Bednar has converted nine of his 12 save chances and posted a 2.19 ERA and 35:9 K:BB across 24.2 innings.

Bednar earned the save in Thursday's win against the White Sox, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning. The right-hander needed 18 pitches to retire the side in order and lock down his 26th save of the season. Bednar has now converted six saves in his last eight appearances, allowing just one run while posting a 9:1 K:BB in that span. Since joining the Yankees, the 30-year-old has converted eight of 11 save chances and turned in a strong 2.38 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and a 31:7 K:BB across 22.2 innings.

The right-hander collected his seventh save in 10 attempts since joining the Yankees, needing only seven pitches (five strikes) to get the job done. Bednar has been scored upon only twice in his last 15 appearances in pinstripes, posting a 1.59 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB in 17 innings over that stretch.

Bednar allowed a hit in a scoreless inning and earned a save against the Blue Jays on Sunday. Bednar worked around a one-out single by Nathan Lukes to close out the 4-3 victory. It was Bednar's fifth save since joining the Yankees and 22nd of the year in 25 chances. He's allowed one run over his last 7.1 innings, dropping his season ERA to 2.47 through 54.2 frames. Bednar earned saves Saturday and Sunday, and he's pitched in three of the last four games. The Yankees are off Monday before starting a three-game home series against Detroit on Tuesday.
