• Yankees' Thomas Pannone: Joins Bronx Bombers

  Pannone signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Friday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. The left-hander spent the first half of the season on a minor-league deal with the Cubs but was released earlier this week. Pannone posted an unremarkable 4.37 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 87:32 K:BB over 19 starts for Triple-A Iowa, and he'll now report to the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

• Cubs' Thomas Pannone: Cut from Chicago's camp

  The Cubs reassigned Pannone to minor-league camp Thursday. Over a small sample of eight innings in spring training, Pannone struck out six while allowing just one earned run on four hits and one walk. Despite the strong showing in Cactus League play, Pannone was unable to win a spot in the Cubs' Opening Day bullpen after attending camp as a non-roster invitee. The 29-year-old has previously made 50 appearances at the big-league level over parts of three seasons, though just one of those came in 2023.

  Pannone signed a minor-league contract with the Cubs on Monday that includes an invitation to spring training, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Pannone made one appearance with the Brewers in 2023 before finishing the season in Korea. The 29-year-old left-hander holds a career 5.46 ERA over 50 appearances (13 starts) across parts of three seasons in the majors. He seems likely to begin the 2024 season as rotation depth at Triple-A Iowa.

Pannone had his contract selected Wednesday but made just one appearance before being removed from the roster, allowing a pair of runs on five hits in 2.2 innings of relief against the Pirates on Friday. J.B. Bukauskas and Clayton Andrews joined the active roster to replace Pannone and Matt Bush, who was also designated for assignment.
