Haseley elected free agency Thursday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Haseley was DFA'd by the White Sox on Tuesday to make room for Paul DeJong, and Haseley will now be able to choose where he spends the 2024 season. The 27-year-old outfielder spent most of last year with Triple-A Charlotte, slashing .264/.338/.386 across 313 plate appearances, and he should be able to secure at least a minor-league deal elsewhere.

Haseley was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Tuesday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports. This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for Paul DeJong, whose one-year, $1.75 million agreement with Chicago has now been made official. Haseley, 27, slashed just .222/.282/.278 over 39 major-league plate appearances in 2023 and also had underwhelming numbers with Triple-A Charlotte with a .264/.338/.386 slash.

The White Sox optioned Haseley to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. Four days after being recalled from Triple-A, Haseley will return to the minors without having gotten a start. The 27-year-old outfielder is slashing .277/.365/.431 across 156 Triple-A plate appearances and will likely continue to bounce between Chicago and Charlotte. Catcher Carlos Perez was recalled in a corresponding move.

The White Sox recalled Haseley from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday. Haseley was optioned to Charlotte on May 28 and has since slashed .303/.380/.427 with two homers and 10 RBI across 100 plate appearances. However, his major-league history is less than impressive, and he will likely serve as a bench piece while in Chicago. Jose Rodriguez was optioned to Double-A Birmingham in a corresponding move.

Chicago optioned Haseley to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. Haseley will cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to Eloy Jimenez (appendectomy), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Sunday's game against the Tigers. In 39 plate appearances with the big club this season, Haseley has slashed .222/.282/.278 with one stolen base.
