• Rays' Alex Faedo: Opens season on IL

  The Rays placed Faedo on the 15-day injured list Thursday due to right shoulder inflammation. Faedo opened the season on the shelf after reporting discomfort in his shoulder following his final Grapefruit League appearance March 12. He's eligible to return from the IL beginning next Tuesday, but since he's currently shut down from throwing, Faedo is likely multiple weeks away from making his Rays debut.

  Faedo will begin the season on the 15-day injured list due to a right shoulder injury, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports. Rays manager Kevin Cash said that an MRI on Faedo's shoulder didn't reveal anything "too alarming," but the right-hander will be shut down for a bit. Faedo had been in line for an Opening Day bullpen spot but could now be sidelined into May.

  Faedo (shoulder) tossed a live batting practice session Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. As a member of the Tigers last season, Faedo didn't pitch after Aug. 20 due to a strained right shoulder, but his ability to throw a live BP session in the early stages of spring training confirms that he's healthy. The 29-year-old right-hander will be competing for a spot in the Tampa Bay bullpen after turning in a 3.61 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 55:28 K:BB in 57.1 innings over his 37 appearances for the Tigers in 2024. Faedo doesn't have any minor-league options remaining, so the Rays would have to expose him to waivers if he isn't kept on the Opening Day roster or placed on the injured list to begin the season.

• Rays' Alex Faedo: Traded to Tampa Bay

  The Rays acquired Faedo from the Tigers on Monday in exchange for Enderson Delgado and cash considerations, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Faedo had been removed from the Tigers' 40-man roster and will now join a new organization. The right-hander is out of minor-league options, so the Rays will need to carry him on their Opening Day roster or put him through the waivers process. Faedo has a career 5.00 ERA over 30 starts and 3.44 ERA over 34 relief appearances at the big-league level.

• Tigers' Alex Faedo: Moved to 60-day IL

  The Tigers transferred Faedo (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Friday. Faedo was placed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 25 with a strained right shoulder, and the injury is severe enough to keep him sidelined for the remainder of the regular season. He's been administered a PRP injection but is expected to have a normal offseason. In 57.1 innings with the Tigers this year, Faedo logged a 3.61 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP.
