  • Amaya is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels. After making 14 starts at shortstop in a 16-game stretch from Aug. 30 through Monday, Amaya now finds himself on the bench for the second day in a row. He's sat in each of the White Sox's last three matchups with right-handed pitchers, as Amaya looks to have moved into the short side of a platoon at shortstop with the lefty-hitting Nicky Lopez. Since joining the White Sox on Aug. 27 after being claimed off waivers from the Astros, Amaya is slashing .244/.311/.268.

  • Amaya is not in Saturday's lineup against the Athletics. Amaya has started 12 of the White Sox's last 13 games at shortstop since being recalled Aug. 30. He's hit .257 with two RBI and two runs scored in that span. Nicky Lopez will take over at shortstop in Amaya's place.

  • Amaya will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Wednesday's game versus the Guardians. Amaya will make a fourth consecutive start at the shortstop position, and he'll have started 11 of the last 12. He's hitting just .233/.281/.267 so far with the Pale Hose and profiles as more of a utility infielder over the long haul, but Amaya should continue to receive regular reps down the stretch for the rebuilding White Sox.

  • Amaya went 1-for-4 with a double Wednesday against the Orioles. Amaya drew his sixth straight start, all of which have come at shortstop. He's hit ninth in the order but has at least one hit in three consecutive games. Amaya maintained just a .638 OPS across 302 plate appearances while in Triple-A this season, so expectations should be limited.

  • Amaya was added to the 26-man roster by the White Sox ahead of Tuesday's game versus the Rangers, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports. Amaya was just claimed off waivers from the Astros on Monday and will report directly to the major-league club. The 25-year-old has hit just .223/.313/.336 across 291 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season. Amaya is capable of handling shortstop, second base and third base and should see a decent amount of playing time down the stretch for the rebuilding White Sox.
