Gilbreath walked one and didn't allow a hit or a run over two-thirds of an inning in his season debut during Friday's 7-3 win over the Padres. Gilbreath figures to pitch in a low-leverage role for the rest of the season. He posted a mediocre 6.23 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB over 8.2 innings during his minor-league rehab assignment while working his way back from Tommy John surgery and a separate shoulder injury. His appearance Friday was his first in the majors since Aug. 26, 2022.

The Rockies activated Gilbreath (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Friday. Gilbreath has been rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in March 2023. When he appears in a game for the Rockies, it will be his first at the major-league level since June of 2022.

Gilbreath (elbow) allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out two across one inning in an Arizona Complex League game Tuesday. Gilbreath is nearing a return from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in March 2023, and Tuesday's outing marked his first game action since late 2022. His time in the ACL is expected to be brief before his rehab assignment is shifted to the upper minors.

Gilbreath (shoulder/elbow) completed two bullpen sessions during the Rockies' recent road trip in St. Louis and Minnesota that ran from June 6 to 12, MLB.com reports. Gilbreath was expected to throw another bullpen session during the Rockies' current homestand before the club decides whether he's ready to take the next step in his rehab program: facing hitters. The southpaw reliever is working his way back from Tommy John surgery and had previously made a rehab appearance with Triple-A Albuquerque on April 23 before being pulled off the assignment after experiencing shoulder discomfort. He could be ready to resume the rehab assignment by the end of June if he avoids any further snags in his recovery while he continues the ramp-up process.

Manager Bud Black said that Gilbreath (elbow/shoulder) is "progressing" after the southpaw resumed throwing June 3 at Coors Field, MLB.com reports. After undergoing Tommy John surgery March 14, 2023, Gilbreath received clearance to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment in late April, but he made just one appearance before being shut down after experiencing shoulder discomfort. He's finally starting to get ramped back up again after a nearly six-week shutdown period, but Gilbreath could still be another week or more away from heading back out on a rehab assignment. During his last healthy season in the majors in 2022, Gilbreath compiled a 4.19 ERA and 1.47 WHIP over 43 innings out of the Colorado bullpen.
