  • The Tigers designated Vanasco for assignment Tuesday. Vanasco was optioned to Triple-A Toledo in September after making two scoreless appearances for the Tigers out of the bullpen. He made 11 total appearances in Toledo in 2024, allowing just two earned runs across 17 innings. The 26-year-old is being designated for assignment in order to create room for one of the three pitchers being added to the 40-man Tuesday.

  • The Tigers acquired Vanasco from the Dodgers on Monday in exchange for cash considerations and optioned him to Triple-A Toledo. Vanasco will fill the spot on the Tigers' 40-man roster that opened up after Detroit traded catcher Carson Kelly to the Rangers on Sunday. The right-hander reached the big leagues for the first time earlier this season with the Dodgers, but he made just two appearances out of the bullpen before being optioned to Triple-A earlier this month and then designated for assignment. Vanasco owns a 3.47 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 27:21 K:BB in 23.1 innings out of the bullpen at the Triple-A level this season.

The Dodgers designated Vanasco for assignment Wednesday. The Dodgers optioned Vanasco to Triple-A on July 14, and the 25-year-old righty will now lose his spot on the 40-man roster in order to make room for Nick Ahmed, who signed a major-league deal with the team on Wednesday. Vanasco owns a 3.47 ERA and 1.73 WHIP through 23.1 innings in Triple-A on the year, and it's possible he attracts some interest on waivers from teams in need of bullpen depth.

  • The Dodgers optioned Vanasco to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Vanasco will cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to right-hander Brent Honeywell, who will get the start in Sunday's series finale versus the Tigers after being claimed off waivers from the Pirates a day earlier. During his latest stint with the Dodgers, Vanasco made his lone appearance in Saturday's 11-9 extra-inning loss to the Tigers and failed to record an out while getting charged with three earned runs on three hits.
