The Tigers re-signed Vanasco to a minor-league contract Tuesday. Vanasco was non-tendered by Detroit last week but returns to the organization on a minor-league pact. The right-hander spent most of the 2024 season at the Triple-A level, collecting a 2.45 ERA and 48:30 K:BB over 40.1 innings of work.

The Tigers non-tendered Vanasco on Friday. Vanasco started the 2024 regular season with the Dodgers, but he was traded to the Tigers on July 29 in exchange for cash considerations. He logged an impressive 1.06 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over 17 innings in Triple-A Toledo, and he managed to make two major-league appearances with Detroit, pitching two scoreless innings. Vanasco will now enter free agency, though the Tigers may try to sign the 26-year-old right-hander to a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training.

The Tigers recalled Vanasco from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. Vanasco was acquired from the Dodgers in late July and will receive his first look as a Tiger in the majors. The 25-year-old pitched well for Toledo after being traded with a 1.38 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB over 13 innings.

The Tigers acquired Vanasco from the Dodgers on Monday in exchange for cash considerations and optioned him to Triple-A Toledo. Vanasco will fill the spot on the Tigers' 40-man roster that opened up after Detroit traded catcher Carson Kelly to the Rangers on Sunday. The right-hander reached the big leagues for the first time earlier this season with the Dodgers, but he made just two appearances out of the bullpen before being optioned to Triple-A earlier this month and then designated for assignment. Vanasco owns a 3.47 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 27:21 K:BB in 23.1 innings out of the bullpen at the Triple-A level this season.

The Dodgers designated Vanasco for assignment Wednesday. The Dodgers optioned Vanasco to Triple-A on July 14, and the 25-year-old righty will now lose his spot on the 40-man roster in order to make room for Nick Ahmed, who signed a major-league deal with the team on Wednesday. Vanasco owns a 3.47 ERA and 1.73 WHIP through 23.1 innings in Triple-A on the year, and it's possible he attracts some interest on waivers from teams in need of bullpen depth.
