Hernandez was outrighted to the Dodgers' Arizona Complex League affiliate Wednesday but was moved to Triple-A. The 26-year-old lefty appeared in seven games with the Pirates before being traded to the Dodgers June 13 and could be called up if the big-league team requires some bullpen help.

Hernandez was acquired via trade from the Pirates just over a month ago and had thrown two scoreless innings with the Dodgers' rookie-level club. He's now off the 40-man roster but will remain in the organization. Look for him to eventually settle in at Triple-A Oklahoma City as a bullpen arm.

A week after being optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis, Hernandez will now lose his spot on the 40-man roster in favor of Dennis Santana, who was claimed off waivers Tuesday. The 26-year-old southpaw owns a 4.82 ERA through 56 career MLB innings, but he has not been nearly as successful this season in the minors, posting a 7.04 ERA and 1.85 WHIP through 15.1 frames.

The Pirates optioned Hernandez to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports. Hernandez hadn't pitched in nearly two weeks after being recalled back on May 23 and making an appearance that day. He's being replaced on the roster and in the bullpen by Ben Heller.
