  • Snelling allowed one run on seven hits over seven innings for Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, striking out a career-high 13 without walking a batter. The lack of a spot on the 40-man roster seems to be the only thing keeping Snelling from making his major-league debut in 2025. The 21-year-old southpaw has delivered seven straight quality starts at Triple-A, fanning double-digit batters three times during that stretch while producing a 1.24 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 62:9 K:BB through 43.2 innings. The Marlins have so far declined to promote Snelling despite having six starting pitchers on the IL at the moment, but despite the team's apparent desire to delay starting his service-time clock, he clearly has nothing left to learn in the International League.

  • Snelling allowed four hits and three walks over six scoreless innings for Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday. He struck out eight. The 21-year-old southpaw hasn't given up an earned run in 21 straight innings for the Jumbo Shrimp, and he's worked at least six innings in five straight starts, delivering a stunning 0.88 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 46:6 K:BB over 30.2 innings during that dominant stretch. Ryan Gusto is getting called up Friday to take the open spot in the Marlins' rotation created when Cal Quantrill was waived, but Snelling has done everything he can to demonstrate he's ready for a big-league audition over the final weeks of the season.

  • Snelling gave up five hits and a walk over six scoreless innings for Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday. He struck out 11. It's the second time in three starts that Snelling has fanned 11 batters, and in five outings since his promotion to Jacksonville, the 21-year-old southpaw has a dazzling 1.63 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 34:5 K:BB over 27.2 innings. He isn't on the 40-man roster and hasn't yet been shifted to a five-day schedule that would mirror a big-league rotation, so the Marlins may not have immediate plans to bring him up. Snelling appears ready for the majors, however, and a promotion in the second half of August would still preserve his rookie status for 2026.

  • Snelling gave up two runs on four hits over 6.2 innings for Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, striking out 11 without walking a batter. It was the best performance of the 21-year-old lefty's career, with the 11 Ks representing a new personal best. Snelling has been impressive since getting bumped up to Triple-A, posting a 2.30 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB over 15.2 innings, and if the Marlins find new homes for the likes of Sandy Alcantara and Edward Cabrera at the trade deadline, Snelling could be among the replacements called up to fortify the big-league rotation.

  • Marlins' Robby Snelling: Traded to Fish
    By RotoWire

Snelling is part of the prospect package going from San Diego to Miami in exchange for Tanner Scott and Bryan Hoeing, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports. Snelling is the youngest qualified pitcher at Double-A, which helps explain some of his struggles this season. He had a 6.01 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and a 67:33 K:BB in 73.1 innings across 16 starts in the Texas League. Snelling has been capable of strong performances this year, including several starts in which he allowed one earned run or fewer with five-plus strikeouts over at least five innings, but he has lacked consistency, mixing in multiple starts in which he gave up more runs than innings pitched. The Marlins will likely assign Snelling to Double-A Pensacola, and if he can display more consistency, he could join the big-league rotation at some point in 2025.
