  • Cronin (elbow) signed a two-year, minor-league contract with the Rangers on Tuesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. Cronin is slated to miss the entire 2026 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery at the end of September, so the Rangers will bring him in on a two-year deal with the hope of having him contribute to the organization in 2027. When healthy, the 28-year-old reliever turned in a 4.91 ERA and 1.64 WHIP across 22 innings at Triple-A in 2025.

Cronin underwent Tommy John surgery Monday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. Cronin had been on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Jacksonville since mid-August and was released by the Marlins earlier this month. He'll be a free agent while he rehabs and is unlikely to be ready to pitch in a game until 2027.

The Marlins released Cronin (undisclosed) on Saturday. Cronin has been shut down at Triple-A Jacksonville since mid-August with an undisclosed injury, and he'll now end up in free agency to make room on Miami's 40-man roster for right-hander Christian Roa, whom the Marlins called up from the minors. Cronin sports a 4.91 ERA and 1.64 WHIP through 22 innings at Jacksonville but should be able to attract a minor-league deal on the open market.

  • Triple-A Jacksonville placed Cronin on the 7-day injured list Aug. 17 due to an undisclosed injury. Cronin made 56 appearances out of the Miami bullpen in 2024, but he's pitched exclusively in the minors this season. Before getting shut down at Triple-A, Cronin had submitted a 4.91 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 21:16 K:BB in 22 innings.

  • The Marlins reinstated Cronin (hip) from the injured list Saturday and optioned him to Triple-A Jacksonville. A hip strain has kept Cronin on the injured list all season, and although he's given up just two earned runs in eight innings during his rehab assignment, the Marlins are going to keep him in the minors now that he's fully healthy. Miami doesn't have a particularly deep bullpen, however, so Cronin could definitely work his way back into the majors if he continues to perform well in Jacksonville.
