Toro cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports. The 28-year-old was designated for assignment by Boston on Thursday but will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. Toro played in 77 games for the Red Sox this season and had a .239/.289/.371 slash line with seven home runs, 27 RBI and 33 runs.

Toro is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports. Toro will yield to Romy Gonzalez at first base for the second time in three games. Toro hasn't logged multiple hits in a game since July 19, going 10-for-69 (.156) with two doubles and two home runs during that stretch.
