Gilbert (9-12) allowed one hit and struck out seven without walking a batter over 5.2 scoreless innings to earn the win Sunday over the Athletics. Gilbert was perfect into the sixth inning before Nick Allen hit a two-out single to end his day. Gilbert ends the regular season as the major-league leader in innings pitched with 208.2, two ahead of Kansas City's Seth Lugo. While he alternated between good and poor starts in September, Gilbert was generally one of the steadiest members of a strong Seattle rotation. He finished the campaign with a 3.23 ERA, led all major-league starters with a 0.89 WHIP and added a 220:37 K:BB over 33 starts, though he missed the 10-win mark for the first time in three years.

Gilbert didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's win over the Rangers, allowing four earned runs on six hits, a walk and a wild pitch over six innings. He struck out seven. The right-hander allowed at least four runs for the fourth time in the last six starts, with two-run home runs by Leody Taveras and Marcus Semien in the third and fifth innings, respectively, accounting for the damage. On the brighter side, Gilbert was able to continue generating plenty of swings and misses, notching 15 whiffs among his 97 pitches while extending his streak of starts with at least six Ks to eight outings. Gilbert pushed his career-high strikeout total to 198 as well with Saturday's production, and he'll once again aim for his eighth victory in a projected road rematch with the Rangers on Friday night.

Gilbert generated an impressive 16 whiffs on 95 pitches but was burned by a four-run third inning that included a three-run homer by Shea Langeliers. The 27-year-old righty has been inconsistent since the All-Star break, logging five quality starts while yielding 17 total earned runs in his other three outings. On the season, he owns a 3.19 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 181:32 K:BB across 177.2 innings and next lines up to face the Cardinals this weekend.

Gilbert (7-9) took the loss Friday, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks over 6.1 innings as the Mariners fell 5-3 to the Pirates. He struck out six. The right-hander delivered his third straight quality start and MLB-leading 20th of the season on 96 pitches (58 strikes), but it took a Cal Raleigh throwing error on a stolen-base attempt by Michael Taylor in the fifth inning to keep him under four earned runs. Through three outings in August, Gilbert has posted a 1.86 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 19:3 K:BB through 19.1 innings, and he'll look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come on the road next week against the Dodgers.

Gilbert (5-5) took the loss against the Orioles on Wednesday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks over 5.1 innings while striking out six. Three of the four runs charged to Gilbert came across in the third inning when he walked two of the first four batters he faced, and he then surrendered three consecutive two-out hits. The right-hander gave up a solo shot to Ryan O'Hearn in the fifth, marking the first time he's given up four or more runs in his last six outings. Gilbert had gone at least six innings in nine consecutive starts coming into Wednesday's loss, while the three walks were the most he's issued since May 14 against the Royals, which covers a span of nine starts.
