Jimenez isn't in Toronto's lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins. Jimenez will get a breather Saturday after going 2-for-3 with a run scored during a blowout loss in Friday's series opener. While he rests, Davis Schneider will start at second base and bat eighth.

Jimenez will start at second base and bat seventh in Thursday's game against the Rangers. Jimenez will pick up his fourth consecutive start at the keystone, despite going 1-for-9 with three strikeouts over the previous three contests. Even though Jimenez has produced a weak .224/.332/.365 slash line over 184 plate appearances with the big club this season, the Blue Jays could nonetheless stick with him as their primary second baseman the rest of the way with Will Wagner (knee) done for the season and with Davis Schneider having taken on more playing time in left field of late.

Jimenez (finger) is starting at second base and batting seventh against St. Louis on Sunday. Jiminez was set to return from a two-game absence due to a foot injury Saturday, but he was a late scratch due to a finger injury. He appears to be over both issues and will be in action for the series finale. Since Aug. 1, Jiminez is slashing .247/.381/.471 with four home runs, 14 RBI and a 30.5 percent strikeout rate across 105 plate appearances.

Jimenez was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Cardinals due to a right index finger contusion, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. Jimenez was set to return from a two-game absence caused by foot soreness. He's now dealing with a new injury, and it's unclear how long he will be sidelined.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Wednesday that Jimenez is tending to a left foot injury, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. "He's pretty sore pushing off of [the foot]," Schneider said. So we want to be careful with it." Even though he typically starts against left-handed pitchers like the Mets' Sean Manaea, Jimenez will take a seat for Wednesday's series finale after he was hit in the foot in Tuesday's 6-2 win. Jimenez has now been struck by pitches in four consecutive games and five times in seven September contests, so the infielder should benefit from a day off. The lefty-hitting Will Wagner will pick up a rare start against a lefty Wednesday in Jimenez's stead.
