Plesac was released by the Angels on Monday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Plesac was working at Triple-A Salt Lake prior to his release, where he accrued a 5.69 ERA and 1.46 WHIP with a 65:33 K:BB across 99.1 innings with the Bees. He failed to find his footing while up with the Angels in 2024, allowing 11 earned runs on 12 hits and seven walks while fanning five over 12 frames (three starts).

The Angels optioned Plesac to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. Plesac has struggled in three starts with the Angels this season, giving up 11 runs in 12 innings while striking out five batters and walking seven. He'll return to Salt Lake in an effort to get back on track, but he hasn't been much better in the minors with a 5.42 ERA through 13 starts with the Bees. Andrew Wantz will come up from Triple-A to fill the vacancy in Los Angeles' pitching staff.

Plesac yielded two runs on a hit and four walks over 2.2 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out three during the win over Detroit. Plesac retired eight straight batters to begin the game before unraveling in the third inning. With two outs in the frame, he put five straight runners on base and walked in a pair of runs. He posted a quality start in his season debut but has been tagged with eight runs in six frames over his last two outings, shooting his season ERA up to 8.25. As things stand, Plesac is lined up to start in Oakland next week, but it's unclear if he'll get another turn in the rotation.

Plesac (1-1) was tagged with the loss against the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing six runs on seven hits and one walk over 3.1 innings. He struck out one. Plesac managed to get through the first two innings unscathed before unraveling in the third. The right-hander allowed three consecutive hits to open the frame, two of which went for home runs, and needed 32 pitches to get through the inning. He's now allowed multiple home runs in each of his first two starts while posting just one strikeout in both outings. Whether or not Plesac sticks around the Angels' rotation for another start remains to be seen, though he certainly didn't help his chances with Saturday's performance.

Plesac will start Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. After posting a quality start in his Angels debut Monday, Plesac will get another turn through the rotation as a fill-in for Jose Soriano (abdomen), who's on the 15-day injured list. Though Plesac delivered decent results in his first start for the Halos, he was far less reliable over 13 outings at Triple-A Salt Lake (5.42 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 51:26 K:BB in 74.2 innings) earlier this season and doesn't make for a reliable streaming option against a tough Dodgers lineup.
