  • Rockies' Greg Jones: Sent down to minors
    By RotoWire

The Rockies optioned Jones to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday. Jones didn't play much during his nearly two-week stint in the majors, receiving just one start and six plate appearances. He's replaced on the roster by Sean Bouchard (ankle), who was reinstated from the injured list.

  • Jones went 1-for-1 with a solo home run Monday against the Dodgers. Jones was promoted to the majors June 6 and has made just one start since. However, he entered Monday's game as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and tallied his first big-league hit with a solo home run. Jones will almost certainly remain a bench bat moving forward.

  • The Rockies recalled Jones from Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday. Following injuries to Kris Bryant (ribs) and Sean Bouchard (foot), Jones will join the Rockies to add depth to a suddenly-thin Colorado outfield unit. The 26-year-old has slashed .240/.360/.387 with four RBI in 89 plate appearances with Albuquerque while also stealing 15 bases in 20 games. He'll be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

  • The Rockies are expected to call up Jones from Triple-A Albuquerque prior to Thursday's game in St. Louis, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Jones, 26, would be making his major-league debut if he gets into a game. He missed some time with Albuquerque this season due to injury but when healthy has slashed .240/.360/.387 with two home runs and 15 stolen bases over 20 games. While Jones also has experience at shortstop, he'll have a better shot at playing time in the Rockies' outfield.

  • Jones (undisclosed) returned from the 7-day injured list Saturday and started in center field in Triple-A Albuquerque's 10-9 win over Oklahoma City, going 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks, two stolen bases and an additional run. Jones hadn't played for Albuquerque since April 21 due to the unspecified injury, but he picked up right where he left off in his return to action for the Triple-A club. Through 80 plate appearances on the season, Jones is slashing .254/.375/.418 with a pair of home runs and 14 stolen bases. Jones already possesses a spot on the Rockies' 40-man roster, which should help his odds of making his MLB debut at some point later on this season.
