The Rockies selected Veen to their 40-man roster Tuesday. Veen began 2024 with Double-A Hartford but received a promotion to Triple-A Albuquerque in late August, where he slashed .220/.281/.476 with six homers and 15 RBI over 92 plate appearances. He will most likely return to Albuquerque to begin the 2025 campaign, though a hot start in the minors could allow him to quickly join a Rockies lineup that posted just a .639 OPS away from the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field last season.

Veen has had another injury-plagued season, as he's managed only 178 total plate appearances. Nevertheless, the Rockies promoted him to the highest level of the minors, setting him up for a potential big-league debut in the first few months of the 2025 campaign. While on the field with Double-A Hartford, Veen has hit .268 with five home runs and 10 stolen bases across 36 games.

Veen is trending in the right direction after being placed on the 7-day injured list July 27 with a right thumb injury. He's slated to play nine innings in Arizona on Tuesday, and if all goes well, he'll also play in a doubleheader Thursday.

Double-A Hartford placed Veen on its 7-day injured list July 27 with a right thumb injury, MLB.com reports. Veen missed five and a half weeks in May and June with back and left hand injuries before returning to the Hartford lineup shortly before the All-Star break, but he played just eight games for the Double-A club before succumbing to a new injury. Rockies player development director Chris Forbes indicated that the club didn't have a timeline for Veen's return to action.
