Radhames Liz signed a minor-league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday that includes an invite to spring training.The 34-year-old righty last pitched in the majors in 2015, posting a 4.24 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 27 strikeouts in 23.1 innings of relief with the Pirates. He also had an impressive strikeout rate at Triple-A that year. If he makes the club out of spring training, he would likely pitch in low-leverage situations.

Radhames Liz's club option for 2016 was declined Thursday.Liz made 14 appearances with the Pittsburgh Pirates this season, recording a 4.24 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 23.1 innings. The 32-year-old previously hadn't pitched in the majors since 2009, so it's unclear how much interest he might generate from other teams. That being said, he's unlikely to provide much fantasy value unless he falls into a bunch of high leverage situations in 2016.

Vance Worley up as Pirates DFA fellow P Radhames Liz
Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Radhames Liz has been designated for assignment so veteran pitcher Vance Worley can be added to the roster, per the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Liz has just three appearances since his promotion on Sept. 1 and has allowed four runs on six hits in six innings. Worley was demoted to Triple-A Indianapolis in mid-August after compiling a 4-5 mark and 3.78 ERA as both a starter and reliever. But he boasts a fine 2.38 ERA in the minors, which has motivated his promotion.

Pirates SP Charlie Morton back; RP Radhames Liz designated
The Pittsburgh Pirates had already announced that right-hander Charlie Morton was set to start Monday against Miami, but they had to take care of some business first. That was accomplished when they reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list. His start will be his first since he underwent labrum surgery in September. Andrew Lambo, Radhames Liz, Jared Hughes and Arquimedes Caminero are all expected to make the Pittsburgh Pirates' Opening Day roster, manager Clint Hurdle announced on Saturday, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Radhames Liz made his first start of the spring Thursday, giving up one earned run on two hits and one walk in two innings while striking out one in his team's 6-4 loss to the Orioles. Liz, who hasn't made a major-league appearance since 2009, was asked after the outing what has changed in the last six years. "I'm different," Liz said, per MLB.com. "My mental approach is different. Those days, I didn't know what I was doing, [I] was just throwing as hard as I could. Now I'm mentally strong, just trying to make the pitches I need to get the hitter out. It's real exciting to be back. [Pirates manager Clint] Hurdle said they're going to give me innings, maybe use me in long relief. I'm OK with that -- it's still baseball." Liz is expected to open the season in the Pirates bullpen. He has surrendered two earned runs in seven innings this spring while striking out three and walking three.

Pirates expect to utilize Radhames Liz as reliever during season
Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said Monday the team will give Radhames Liz at least three innings/50 pitches during spring training, but he is most likely going to come out of the bullpen when the season starts, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. The Pittsburgh Pirates signed pitcher Radhames Liz to a minor-league contract Friday. Liz, who last pitched in the majors in 2009, spent three seasons overseas in Korea before making 12 starts in the Blue Jays' organization in 2014, posting a 2.95 ERA and 44:24 K:BB ratio in 61 innings between Double-A and Triple-A. He owns a career 6.7 strikeouts-per-nine rate and a career 6.2 walks-per-nine rate.
