Funny tweet expresses Tim Byrdak desire for a job
Left-handed reliever Tim Byrdak has taken a unique approach in his search for work. He has tweeted a humorous message to whatever general manager might be interested. "Attention MLB GMs," it began. "For sale, late model LHR, high mileage but very serviceable! Doesn't come with all the bells and whistles of newer models (i.e. 97 mph), however I can still break a pane of glass with my fastball. ... Please call ASAP. I am driving my wife crazy being home during spring training." The 40-year-old pitched in eight games for the Mets in 2013 and recorded a 7.71 ERA that motivated the team to release him in late January.

New York Mets reliever Tim Byrdak will not return to the team. Byrdak tweeted at a fan that the team decided to pass on offering him a contract. The 40-year-old is recovering from a torn capsule in his shoulder.

Seven Mets declare free agency
New York Mets starting pitcher Aaron Harang, relief pitcher LaTroy Hawkins, starting pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka, relief pitcher David Aardsma, relief pitcher Tim Byrdak, relief pitcher Pedro Feliciano and relief pitcher Frank Francisco have filed for free agency. The New York Mets have recalled reliever Tim Byrdak from Triple-A Las Vegas, MLB.com reports. The 39-year-old has been working his way back from shoulder surgery last September and has thrown eight scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts for Las Vegas.

Tim Byrdak takes another step toward MLB return
New York Mets reliever Tim Byrdak, who is working his way back from shoulder surgery, was promoted from Class A St. Lucie to Double-A Binghamton Sunday, according to ESPN. Byrdak was 1-1 with a 2.19 ERA, three saves and .146 opponents' batting average in 14 appearances for St. Lucie.

New York Mets manager Terry Collins said relievers Pedro Feliciano and Tim Byrdak could join the bullpen later this summer, according to The Star-Ledger. "If there is that spot that opens up that’s needed and we’re looking for a left-hander, we’ve got two guys who can certainly handle the heat at this level," Collins said.

New York Mets reliever Tim Byrdak will begin a rehab assignment Friday with the Gulf Coast League Mets, ESPN New York reports. Byrdak has been out since having shoulder surgery in September, so he'll likely be in rehab for almost a month as he essentially goes through a late spring training. Expect him back in New York around the All-Star break.
