The 26-year-old had put together a solid year, batting .317/.349/.438 in 126 games with Triple-A Buffalo, but he was passed over for a September callup and this suspension will ultimately overshadow his accomplishments. Once considered a top prospect, Montero was suspended in 2014 following an incident with a Mariners scout and he may now be out of chances with big-league organizations.

Seattle Mariners DH Jesus Montero had a productive game Sunday against the Yankees, going 2 for 2 with one run and one walk in a 2-1 loss. Unfortunately, Sunday's performance could not keep him from being optioned to Triple-A Tacoma after Sunday's game. Montero hit .300 (3 for 10) with one RBI, one run, three walks and one strikeout in five games with Seattle.
