Phillies' Hector Gomez: Inks minor league deal with Phillies
Hector Gomez signed a minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday that includes an invite to spring training. He played in Korea in 2016, but was apparently itching to get back into a big league organization. His offensive production has been awful in 162 career plate appearances in the majors, but he has some quality minor league seasons under his belt. Hector Gomez: Signs with Korean team
Hector Gomez will play in the Korean Baseball Organization in 2016.Gomez declined an outright assignment in August in hopes of landing a job in free agency, but after hitting just .181/.212/.323 in a 66 game stint with the Brewers this season, it appears there was little interest in the 27-year-old. He'll look for regular at bats in Korea rather than serve as organizational depth in a team's minors.

Brewers' Elian Herrera, Hector Gomez will split time at second
The Milwaukee Brewers will have Elian Herrera and Hector Gomez split playing time at second base for the forseeable future. "I’m going to take it on a nightly basis," manager Craig Counsell said, per the Journal Sentinel. "There’s no pre-set guy that’s going to get the bulk of the playing time. We’ll go with it every night and see what happens." "I think Hector is a tremendous defender. That’s the biggest plus that he brings," Counsell said. "Elian is a switch-hitter, which is nice to have. They’ve both shown extra-base hit potential."
