Kris Johnson: Inks big contract extension in Japan
Kris Johnson agreed Monday to a three-year contract with the Hiroshima Carp worth an estimated $15 million, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports.Johnson, 31, emerged as a star in the Japanese Central League in 2015, going 14-7 with a 1.85 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 150 strikeouts in 194.1 innings. The left-hander, who had a brief taste of the majors in 2013 and 2014 with the Pirates and Twins, is off to another hot start with Hiroshima this season, and the team will keep him in the fold long-term by offering him what is believed to be the largest guaranteed contract for a foreign player in Asia.
