    Mets' Stolmy Pimentel: Signs minor league contract

    Stolmy Pimentel signed a minor league contract with the New York Mets that includes an invite to spring training, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.Pimentel appeared in eight games for the Rangers last season, putting together a 3.97 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 11.1 innings. Including this season, the 25-year-old right-hander has appeared in the majors every season since 2013, but he's failed to record more than 20 appearances with each club -- thus limiting Pimentel's role to mere organizational depth with the Mets.

    Rangers RP Stolmy Pimentel clears waivers, heads to Triple-A

    After clearing waivers, Texas Rangers pitcher Stolmy Pimentel was outrighted to the team's Triple-A affiliate, reports The Dallas Morning News. Pimentel was designated for assignment last week after posting a 3.97 ERA in 11 1/3 innings.

    Rangers add Sam Freeman from Triple-A, DFA Stolmy Pimentel

    The Texas Rangers have purchased the contract of Sam Freeman from Triple-A Round Rock and designated Stolmy Pimentel for assignment, the team announced on Wednesday.  Freeman has a 1.12 ERA with eight strikeouts and no walks in eight innings of work for Round Rock. Pimentel has a 3.97 ERA and seven strikeouts in 11 1/3 innings of work.

    Rangers P Nick Martinez gives up 3 runs in no-decision

    Texas Rangers pitcher Nick Martinez gave up four runs — three earned — in Tuesday night's 7-6 loss to the Royals in 10 innings.  Martinez earned a no-decision in the game after going 6 1/3 innings. He struck out four batters and walked one. He now has a 1.88 ERA.  With the game going into extra innings, Stolmy Pimentel earned the loss. After allowing one earned run in his first four starts, Martinez has now given up 8 earned runs in his past three.  Martinez's next start is projected for Sunday against the Indians.

    The Texas Rangers have claimed right-hander Stolmy Pimentel off waivers from the Pirates on Saturday, per the team's official website. In order to clear space for the 25-year-old on the 40-man roster, Texas has transferred right-handed pitcher Lisalverto Bonilla from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list. Pimentel was designated for assignment by the Pirates on April 5, after posting a 4.91 ERA with four strikeouts and five walks in nine appearances in spring training.

    Pirates designate Stolmy Pimentel, Pedro Florimon for assignment

    The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated pitcher Stolmy Pimentel and shortstop Pedro Florimon for assignment, the team announced Sunday. Pimentel posted a 4.91 ERA with four strikeouts and five walks in nine appearances this spring. Florimon hit .270 with two home runs and five RBI in 37 plate appearances this spring.

    Pirates announce several roster moves Monday

    The Pittsburgh Pirates have promoted catcher Tony Sanchez from Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday. Additionally, the team reinstated right-hander Stolmy Pimentel from the disabled list. The team also selected contract of right-hander John Holdzkom and optioned him to Triple-A. Chris McGuiness was designated for assignment to open a spot on 40-man roster.

    Stolmy Pimentel tosses scoreless inning on rehab

    Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Stolmy Pimentel tosssed a scoreless inning during a rehab start Thursday. Pimental got the start for the Double-A club in Altoona. He threw a perfect inning, picking up one strikeout. Pimental threw nine pitches, seven of which were strikes.

    Stolmy Pimentel to start rehab assignment Thursday

    Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Stolmy Pimentel will begin a rehab assignment Thursday, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.  Pimentel will throw one inning with the Double-A club in Altoona. He'll start Thursday's game and toss an inning. Pimentel has been out since August 13 with an ankle injury. He's posted a 5.40 ERA over 31 2/3 innings.
