Nationals' Ryan Jackson: Inks minors deal with Washington

Ryan Jackson signed a minor-league contract with the Washington Nationals on Monday, MLB.com reports.Jackson has bounced around a lot already in 2017, having spent time in the Marlins and Mariners organizations along with a stint in independent ball with the Sugar Land Skeeters. The Nationals present an intriguing landing spot for the well-traveled infielder with Trea Turner (wrist) set to miss extended time, but unless further injuries strike the Washington infield, Jackson will function as little more than organizational depth.

Ryan Jackson: Signs minor-league deal with Phillies

Ryan Jackson signed a minor league deal with the Phillies on Wednesday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.Jackson briefly spent some time with the Angels this season, failing to record a hit in 14 at-bats. He did slash a decent .295/.372/.378 line with the Royals' and Angels' Triple-A affiliates last season, so it's possible Jackson could work his way onto the major league roster with a decent showing during spring training, but he probably won't present much fantasy value until he earns more playing time.

Angels swap C Drew Butera to Royals for INF Ryan Jackson

In an exchange of backups, the Los Angeles Angels have traded catcher Drew Butera to the Kansas City Royals for infielder Ryan Jackson. The 31-year-old Butera, who had been designated for assignment Monday, has four hits in 21 at-bats this season. "Obviously, our hope was that we would be able to maintain Drew in the organization, but he's been a backup catcher in the big leagues for a number of year," Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto told MLB.com. "As soon as we designated him for assignment, it became fairly clear that he was going to get claimed on waivers, so putting together a trade made the most sense." Jackson, who has now been with four different organizations since 2012, has two hits in 24 big-league at-bats. But he was batting .305 this year with Triple-A Omaha.
