Angels' Tyler Anderson: Throwing again, but iffy to return
Tyler Anderson reported to the Los Angeles Angels' spring training facility in Arizona last Thursday to begin a throwing program, but he's yet to make much progress in his recovery from a left oblique strain, MLB.com reports. The Angels aren't closing the door on Anderson returning from the 15-day injured list for the final week of the season, but the lefty will need to ramp up quickly to have any chance at contributing over the last few games, even as a reliever. Before being deactivated Aug. 31, Anderson went 2-8 with a 4.56 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 104:57 K:BB in 136.1 innings over 26 starts with the Halos.

Angels' Tyler Anderson: Shelved with oblique strain
The Los Angeles Angels placed Tyler Anderson on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a left oblique strain. The veteran left-hander delivered five scoreless frames Friday in Houston, but that could end up being his final start of the campaign. Anderson will be eligible to be reinstated Sept. 14, but oblique injuries often require longer than 15 days of recovery time. If the 35-year-old is unable to return to the mound in 2025, he'll finish the campaign with a 4.56 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 104:57 K:BB across 136.1 innings.

Angels' Tyler Anderson: Hurls five scoreless frames Friday
Tyler Anderson allowed five hits and issued three walks while striking out one batter over five innings in a no-decision against Houston on Friday.Anderson made his first start in seven days, as he got some extra time off during the week while on paternity leave. The additional rest appears to have served him well -- the veteran lefty kept the Astros off the scoreboard during his five frames after pitching to a poor 6.13 ERA across his previous eight outings. Anderson should be good to make his next start on his regular schedule, so he's slated to face the Royals on the road next week.

Angels' Tyler Anderson: Activated ahead of start
The Los Angeles Angels reinstated Tyler Anderson from the paternity list prior to his start Thursday against the Astros.Anderson has given up four earned runs in three of his four starts since the beginning of August and remains in search of his first win since April 18. Although he's due to face an Astros offense that has posted a .655 OPS over their last 10 games, the 35-year-old southpaw should only be viewed as a last resort for fantasy managers in search of streaming options. Jack Kochanowicz was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move.

Angels' Tyler Anderson: Limits Cubs in no-desicion
Tyler Anderson didn't factor into the decision against the Cubs on Friday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings. The left-hander did well to limit the damage, with his only runs coming on a first-inning solo homer from Kyle Tucker and a sacrifice fly in the third. While Anderson didn't pitch deep into the contest, he kept Los Angeles within striking distance and turned in one of his steadier outings of late. The 35-year-old had struggled over his previous six starts, posting a 6.67 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 19:15 K:BB across 29.2 innings during that stretch, so Friday's effort represented a modest step in the right direction.

Angels' Tyler Anderson: Cleared to start Saturday
Tyler Anderson (back) is slated to start Saturday's game against the Athletics in Sacramento.Anderson was initially lined up to make his 24th start of the season during Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Dodgers, but he was scratched ahead of the contest due to back stiffness, which has been a recurring issue for the southpaw throughout the season, according to MLB.com.
