Angels' Jorge Soler: Traded to Angels
The Los Angeles Angels acquired Jorge Soler from Atlanta on Thursday in exchange for Griffin Canning, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports. There's no money changing hands, so the Angels will be solely responsible for the $32 million Soler is owed over the next two seasons. Slated to turn 33 in February, Soler slashed .241/.338/.442 with 21 home runs over 142 regular-season games between San Francisco and Atlanta in 2024. He is likely to be used mostly at designated hitter with the Angels, although general manager Perry Minasian said Thursday that Soler could play some in the outfield, as well, per Taylor Blake Ward of the Sporting Tribune.

Braves' Jorge Soler: Still eyeing weekend return
Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Wednesday that Jorge Soler (hamstring) has been running the bases and hitting and remains on track to return to the lineup during this weekend's series versus Washington, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.Even though Soler will be out of the lineup for a sixth straight game Wednesday against the Phillies while he tends to a strained left hamstring, Atlanta remains confident that he'll avoid a stint on the injured list. In addition to classifying Soler as day-to-day, Snitker's willingness to use the 32-year-old off the bench in Tuesday's 3-1 win seemingly supports the notion that the outfielder/designated hitter will be back in the lineup soon. During his lone plate appearance Tuesday, Soler drew a walk in the bottom of the eighth inning before being lifted for a pinch runner.
