Olson went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Olson had the only multi-hit effort of the night for a mostly moribund Athletics offense. The 24-year-old has seen a downturn overall at the plate during May, but he's doubled his April home-run total by going deep on four occasions. Olson has also started picking it up offensively during the latter half of the month, as he's hitting .300 with four doubles, three home runs, five RBI, four walks and four runs across the 45 plate appearances he's logged since May 14.

Abreu went 2-for-5 in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Baltimore.

Abreu is scalding hot right now, having posted nine multi-hit games in the last 16 while hitting .391 (25-for-64) during that run. It's even better against the Orioles. He's had 14 multi-hit games in the past 18 against the Birds.

Gurriel went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in Tuesday's 11-2 win over the Giants.

Gurriel is one of a few Houston hitters emerging from early doldrums at the plate. The first baseman, who began the season late due to a hand injury and suspension, was hitting just .224 entering the month of May, but is up to .281 after a 19-game stretch in which he's hit .325 (25-for-77). With just one home run and a .112 ISO, Gurriel's power numbers aren't what we'd like to see from a corner infielder, but the further removed he is from the hand injury, we should see better results in that area.

The Twins acquired Carter in a trade with the Angels on Tuesday.

Carter signed a minor-league deal with the Angels in February but failed to crack the Opening Day roster after spring training. The 31-year-old has a .255/.333/.600 slash line with 13 home runs and 49 strikeouts at the Triple-A level this season. A big-league opportunity could present itself for the veteran power hitter at some point this season, but for now he will report to Triple-A Rochester.

Calhoun is not in Tuesday's starting lineup against the Blue Jays, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Calhoun will sit out for the second straight game after riding the pine for Sunday's series finale against the Rays. He's struggled of late, slashing .138/.212/.172 over his last 14 games, and seems to be slipping into a fairly strict platoon.

Guerrero went 4-for-4 with a walkoff three-run home run for Double-A New Hampshire in its 6-5 win over Binghamton in Game 1 of a doubleheader Sunday. He added an RBI single and stolen base in the nightcap.

Just when it seemed Guerrero couldn't possibly enhance his sterling resume any further, he added to his legend with another monster showing in the first game of the twin bill, highlighted by the clutch long ball in the final inning. Guerrero continues to pace the Eastern League in batting average (.421), OPS (1.169) and total bases (106), all while being exceptionally young for the circuit at 19 years and two months. In a bit of an upset, Guerrero wasn't the first 19-year-old to receive a promotion to the big leagues this season, as the Nationals brought up top prospect Juan Soto from Double-A Harrisburg on Sunday after injuries thinned Washington's outfield ranks. It may not be long before Guerrero joins Soto in the majors, as the third baseman has proven the Double-A level isn't a challenge for him.

Calhoun is not in the lineup Sunday against the Rays, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Calhoun continues to struggle at the plate and will be given his second game off in the past three days. The right fielder is hitting a career-low .161 with career-worst marks of a four percent walk rate and 27 percent strikeout rate. Michael Hermosillo will take over in right field.

Abreu went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Rangers.

The first baseman extended his hitting streak to 10 games while launching his eighth home run of the year and first since May 4. Abreu's hot streak has pushed his slash line on the season up to .306/.374/.531, and despite the struggles of the team as a whole, the veteran slugger's numbers are right in line with his usual performance.

Abreu slashed RBI doubles off starter Matt Moore in the first and second innings. He now has 11 doubles on the season to go along with seven home runs and 23 RBI. The 31-year-old's .293 batting average ranks fourth among all MLB first basemen, while his .360 on-base percentage ranks ninth at the position.

Calhoun is not in the lineup against the Rays on Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Calhoun will take a seat following eight straight starts as the recently promoted Michael Hermosillo will get the nod in right field while batting ninth during his big-league debut. Look for Calhoun to return to the lineup Saturday.
