  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Expected back Friday

Wade (knee) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

There was a chance for Wade to make his season debut Thursday, but he experienced soreness in his knee, per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. The renewed soreness isn't believed to be a serious issue. Wade participated in seven games with Triple-A Sacramento while on a rehab assignment, and he collected five hits in 21 at-bats. He should return to the large side of a platoon in left field, sharing at-bats with Darin Ruf and Austin Slater.

  • Kevin Padlo 1B | LAD

Giants' Kevin Padlo: Optioned to Sacramento

Padlo was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Padlo was recalled by the Giants to make his debut with the team Tuesday. He started each of the last two games at third base while hitting seventh and collected one hit in five at-bats. Padlo will continue to serve as organizational depth at both corner infield positions, though the impending return of Evan Longoria (finger) complicates his potential to make an impact with the big-league club moving forward.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Padres' Matt Beaty: Not in Thursday's lineup

Beaty isn't starting Thursday's game against the Marlins.

Beaty has gone 1-for-18 with three runs, two walks and a strikeout over his last six games, and he'll take a seat with left-hander Jesus Luzardo on the mound for the Marlins. Trayce Thompson will start in right field and bat ninth.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Padres' Luke Voit: Hitless through two rehab outings

Voit (biceps) has gone 0-for-6 with two walks, two strikeouts and a run in two rehab games with Triple-A El Paso.

Voit has worked a walk in both of his minor-league games thus far, which is far from surprising given his 19.2 percent walk rate this season before he hit the injured list. The slugger appears close to returning to the big club and could be back during San Diego's weekend series against the Marlins.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Knocks in two runs Wednesday

Freeman went 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, a run and two RBI in Wednesday's 9-1 victory against the Giants.

Freeman walked and scored in the fourth inning, and he plated two runs in the seventh with his first triple of the season. The star first baseman isn't hitting for his usual amount of power -- he has just three homers through 23 games -- but he's still slashing a healthy .299/.386/.483 and has collected five doubles, a triple, 15 runs, 12 RBI and two stolen bases.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Two homers, eight RBI Wednesday

Tellez went 4-for-6 with two home runs, a double and eight RBI in Wednesday's 18-4 win over the Reds.

Tellez singled in the first inning before he later launched a grand slam off Vladimir Gutierrez in the third frame, scoring Willy Adames, Christian Yelich and Andrew McCutchen in the process. The 27-year-old also added a two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth and an RBI double in eighth inning, finishing his day with an eye-popping eight RBI. The two homers have him up to seven total on the season to go with 21 RBI. Over his last four games, Tellez has launched four long balls and notched 12 RBI over 15 at-bats.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Unlikely to return this week

Reds manager David Bell said Wednesday that Votto (illness) will likely be on the COVID-19 injured list for "more than a couple of days," C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Though the Reds haven't formally said whether Votto tested positive for COVID-19, the skipper's comments would seem to imply that the veteran first baseman is likely experiencing symptoms of the virus and wasn't deactivated earlier this week for precautionary reasons. More clarity on Votto's status could arrive over the weekend, but fantasy managers shouldn't count on him being available for the Reds' four-game home series with Pittsburgh that begins Friday.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Padres' Matt Beaty: On bench for Game 2

Beaty is out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Guardians.

Beaty will see his streak of six consecutive starts come to an end while he sits in favor of Jose Azocar in the nightcap. He served as San Diego's designated hitter in the team's 5-4 win in Game 1 of the day, going 1-for-4 with a run.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Another rehab appearance on tap

Wade (knee) is in the lineup at Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The Giants were initially optimistic that Wade could be back with the major-league club as early as Tuesday, but he'll appear in at least one more rehab game. He's posted a 1.088 OPS over six rehab games, so it's possible he'll rejoin the Giants when they return home Thursday.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Slugs ninth homer

Cron went 3-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's 10-2 loss to the Nationals.

His eighth-inning blast off Erasmo Ramirez was too little, too late for the Rockies. Cron continues to swing a hot bat despite a lack of consistent help around him in the lineup, and his nine homers ties him for the major-league lead with Aaron Judge and Anthony Rizzo. Cron also boasts a .307/.354/.693 slash line with 22 RBI in 23 games.
