  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Back from injured list

Walker (oblique) was activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday. He'll start at first base and bat fifth versus the Cardinals.

The 30-year-old completed his fourth rehab game with Triple-A Reno on Friday and will rejoin the Diamondbacks after spending almost three weeks on the shelf. It was Walker's second stint on the injured list this season due to the oblique injury, and he's struggled so far in 2021 with a .203/.268/.313 slash line in 71 plate appearances.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Nationals' Josh Bell: On bench for evening game

Bell will sit for the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader against the Brewers, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Bell went 0-for-3 in the day's first game, dropping his batting average to .212. Ryan Zimmerman will take over at first base in his absence.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Unlikely to need rehab assignment

Alonso (hand) isn't expected to require a rehab assignment before returning from the injured list, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Alonso didn't return from the injured list when first eligible Saturday, but it doesn't look like he'll miss much more time. He's been taking grounders and hitting off a pitching machine in recent days, though the Mets still haven't specified exactly when he'll return to the roster.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Reinstated from injured list

Flores (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Flores will return to the active roster after spending the minimum of 10 days on the injured list. He's starting at first base and batting fifth in Saturday's game against the Dodgers, and he could serve as the primary first baseman in the immediate future after Brandon Belt (oblique) was placed on the injured list Wednesday.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Pair of runs Friday

Wade went 1-for-2 with two walks, an RBI single and two runs scored in Friday's 8-5 extra-inning win over the Dodgers. He was also hit by a pitch.

The 27-year-old's only hit of the contest was timely, as he knocked in Steven Duggar in the 10th inning to restore San Francisco's lead. Wade made the start at first base and hit leadoff. San Francisco's first-base depth is thin with Brandon Belt (oblique) and Darin Ruf (hamstring) both on the injured list, although Wilmer Flores (hamstring) is expected back this weekend. Wade will likely serve in a bench role while on the major-league roster.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Cubs' Anthony Rizzo: Remains out of lineup

Rizzo (back) isn't starting Saturday's game against the Reds.

Rizzo will be out of the lineup for a fourth consecutive game as he continues to manage back stiffness. He hasn't come off the bench in the last three contests, so it's not yet clear whether he'll be available Saturday. Kris Bryant will shift to first base while Rafael Ortega starts in right field.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Return imminent

Walker (oblique) will be evaluated following his fourth rehab game for Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Walker, who went 2-for-5 and homered for a second straight game Friday, could return to the Diamondbacks as soon as this weekend. This is Walker's second stint on the IL due to the oblique, so Arizona will give him a close examination before having him return.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Dodgers' Matt Beaty: Knocks second home run

Beaty went 2-for-2 with a solo home run as Los Angeles fell 8-5 to San Francisco on Friday.

Beaty homered off Anthony DeSclafani for his second of the season and later singled in the fourth before being removed in the fifth. He's slashing a solid .282/.385/.397 but may only be an option in deep leagues due to inconsistent playing time on a stacked Dodgers team.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Progressing well in recovery

Alonso (hand) took batting practice off a high-velocity machine Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Alonso shed his brace while taking grounders at first base Wednesday, and manager Luis Rojas confirmed that the first baseman is "trending well" in his recovery. Alonso appears to be on track for a relatively brief stay on the injured list, but the team hasn't yet decided whether he'll need a rehab assignment.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

    Cubs' Anthony Rizzo: Remains sidelined

Rizzo (back) will remain on the bench for Friday's game against the Reds.

Rizzo finds himself sitting for the third straight game due to back stiffness. He didn't appear off the bench in either of the last two, so it's unclear whether or not he'll be available Friday. Kris Bryant remains the starter at first base in his absence.
