Yankees' Marcus Stroman: Decent results in no-decision
Marcus Stroman took a no-decision Thursday against the Mariners, giving up two runs on six hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out three.Just one of the hits off Stroman went for extra bases, and he was able to build up to 90 pitches in his third start since being reinstated from the injured list. Additionally, the veteran right-hander has tossed at least five frames in all three of these outings after being unable to complete five innings in any of his first three appearances before landing on the IL in mid-April. Stroman still has work to do in order to enhance his 6.66 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 15:12 K:BB over 24.1 innings, but New York will need him in its post-All-Star break rotation now that Clarke Schmidt (elbow) is done for the rest of the current season, and likely all of 2026.

Yankees' Marcus Stroman: Reinstated ahead of start
The New York Yankees activated Marcus Stroman (knee) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start Sunday against the Athletics at Yankee Stadium. For the first time since April 11, Stroman will be taking the hill for the Yankees after an inflamed left knee kept him on the shelf for more than two and a half months. According to Ronald Blum of the Associated Press, Stroman said that his knee pain stemmed from a torn ACL suffered a decade earlier, and the right-hander could continue to require treatment in between starts to handle the rigors of the long season. After the extended downtime, Stroman didn't look especially sharp during his three-start rehab assignment at Double-A Somerset, as he turned in a 6.97 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 9:5 K:BB over 10.1 innings. Stroman built up to 65 pitches in his final start with Somerset and could be operating with a light workload restriction in his return to the Yankees rotation Sunday.

Yankees' Marcus Stroman: Coming off IL on Sunday
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Marcus Stroman (knee) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's series finale versus the Athletics at Yankee Stadium, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.Stroman has been on the shelf since April 12 due to left knee inflammation, and while he has struggled during his rehab assignment, the Yankees will have a spot available for him in the rotation after Ryan Yarbrough (oblique) was placed on the 15-day IL last week. Over his three minor-league rehab outings, Stroman was roughed up to the tune of a 6.97 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 9:5 K:BB over 10.1 innings. He maxed out at 3.2 innings and 65 pitches over those three starts, so Stroman will likely be under a light workload restriction Sunday. Given his struggles during his rehab assignment and his underwhelming numbers with the Yankees overall since signing with the team in free agency in January 2024, Stroman won't make for a reliable streaming option against the Athletics.

Yankees' Marcus Stroman: Whiffs four in second rehab start
Marcus Stroman (knee) struck out four and allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits and one walk across 3.1 innings in his second rehab start Wednesday with Double-A Somerset.Stroman built up to 55 pitches in Wednesday's outing and may need just one more start in the minors before making his return from the 15-day injured list. His next rehab outing is scheduled to take place Tuesday, and he's slated to throw approximately 70 pitches in that appearance, per MLB.com. Despite logging an 11.57 ERA and 2.04 WHIP over 9.1 innings in his three starts with the New York Yankees before landing on the shelf April 12 due to left knee inflammation, Stroman could have a spot in the big-league rotation waiting for him once he's activated. Ryan Yarbrough had been performing well as the Yankees' No. 5 starter in recent weeks, but he was placed on the IL on Sunday due to an oblique strain and is unlikely to be activated before Stroman.
