The Yankees released Stroman on Friday. The right-hander made his ninth start of the season Thursday against the Rays and picked up the win after giving up four runs across five innings, and it will end up being his final start with the Yankees. Stroman has a 6.23 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 26:16 K:BB across 39 innings this season and will look to latch on with another team for the stretch run.

Stroman (3-2) earned the win Thursday over the Rays, allowing four runs on six hits over five innings. He struck out three. Stroman held Tampa Bay scoreless through three innings before stumbling in the fourth, when he gave up four runs on five hits. However, the Yankees provided more than enough run support in an eventual 7-4 victory. It's been an up-and-down year overall for Stroman, who's given up eight runs over 8.2 innings in his last two outings, though he figures to remain in New York's rotation, as the Yankees did not add another starter prior to the trade deadline. The 34-year-old Stroman sports a 6.23 ERA with a 1.54 WHIP and 26:16 K:BB across nine starts (39 innings) this season.

Stroman (2-2) took the loss Saturday as the Yankees fell 9-4 to the Phillies, coughing up four runs on five hits and four walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out four. The right-hander got tagged for runs in three of his four frames while tossing only 50 of 89 pitches for strikes as he issued a season-worst four free passes. It's the first time Stroman has failed to last at least five innings since he came off the IL in late June, and in those five starts he's posted a 4.01 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB over 24.2 innings. He'll try to get back on track in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Rays.

Stroman (2-1) earned the win Sunday over Atlanta, allowing one run on five hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out four. Stroman delivered his first quality start of the season Sunday -- he'd blank Atlanta for five innings before eventually giving up a lone run on a Matt Olson homer in the sixth. The 34-year-old Stroman's pitched well since rejoining the Yankees in late June, posting a 3.00 ERA over four starts (15 innings) after struggling to an 11.57 ERA in his first three starts (9.1 innings) in April. Stroman is currently scheduled to face the Phillies at home his next time out.

Stroman took a no-decision Thursday against the Mariners, giving up two runs on six hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out three. Just one of the hits off Stroman went for extra bases, and he was able to build up to 90 pitches in his third start since being reinstated from the injured list. Additionally, the veteran right-hander has tossed at least five frames in all three of these outings after being unable to complete five innings in any of his first three appearances before landing on the IL in mid-April. Stroman still has work to do in order to enhance his 6.66 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 15:12 K:BB over 24.1 innings, but New York will need him in its post-All-Star break rotation now that Clarke Schmidt (elbow) is done for the rest of the current season, and likely all of 2026.
