Rockies' Kris Bryant: Shows pop early in spring
Kris Bryant hit a 462-foot home run that had an 111.8 mph exit velocity during Tuesday's Cactus League game, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.Bryant has struggled to stay on the field since joining the Colorado Rockies in 2022, though he worked on his core strength and flexibility this offseason and enters the season with renewed hope. Rockies' Kris Bryant: Worked on core, flexibility
Kris Bryant's offseason workouts focused on core strength and flexibility in the hope that it will help keep him healthy in 2025, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. The Colorado Rockies also plan to use Bryant in the designated-hitter slot at home in order to limit his exposure to the difficult environment and spacious right field. Bryant -- who will be used some in right field on the road -- has played just 159 games over three regular seasons for the Rockies, largely due to back and foot issues. Rockies' Kris Bryant: Slated for DH, RF duty
Colorado Rockies general manager Bill Schmidt said last week that Kris Bryant is slated to be used at designated hitter and in right field in 2025, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.Schmidt indicated that Bryant could see more of his starts in right field on the road, where he would have less ground to cover than in spacious Coors Field. Bryant is also capable of playing first base, but Michael Toglia is pegged for everyday duty there. It would make sense for the Rockies to use Bryant mostly at DH in an effort to keep him healthy, but Schmidt said of the soon-to-be 33-year-old that "I don't see him strictly as a DH." Bryant has played just 159 games in three seasons for the Rockies, mostly due to back and foot issues, but he is expected to enter spring training healthy.
