Giants' Taylor Rogers: Lands on waivers

The San Francisco Giants placed Taylor Rogers on waivers Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.Rogers has been a valuable piece of San Francisco's bullpen this season, posting a 2.45 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 51.1 innings. However, in an effort to shed payroll, the Giants will now allow any other team to take him in, as long as they are willing to pay the remaining $2 million left on his salary this year and the $12 million he's owed in 2025. If no other club is willing to take on the additional salary, Rogers will simply remain with the Giants.

Giants' Taylor Rogers: Takes extra-inning loss

Taylor Rogers (1-4) allowed an unearned run on one hit and struck out one over one inning, taking the extra-inning loss Monday versus Atlanta.Rogers gave up the lone run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning. He's been fairly steady since the start of July, posting a 2.63 ERA over 13.2 innings in that span, just a touch worse than his 2.25 ERA for the year. He's added a 1.19 WHIP, 56:15 K:BB and five holds over 48 innings overall. While the San Francisco Giants' bullpen has been restructured after Camilo Doval was demoted to Triple-A last week, Rogers is still unlikely to see much high-leverage work, with Ryan Walker just named the closer and Tyler Rogers and Jordan Hicks slotting in as the preferred setup men.

Giants' Taylor Rogers: Sloppy early in spring

Taylor Rogers has allowed four unearned runs on three hits and two walks over 1.2 innings in Cactus League play.Rogers is a two-time 30-save man, but he'll have a tough time leapfrogging Camilo Doval and Tyler Rogers in the late-inning mix. The left-handed Rogers had a 3.83 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 64:25 K:BB over 51.2 innings last season, adding two saves and 12 holds. He could still see the occasional save chance, but he struggled mightily versus right-handed hitters last season, so his usage could end up being more situational than his fellow late-inning relievers.
