Rockies' Austin Gomber: Early exit Wednesday
Austin Gomber (5-11) took the loss Wednesday as the Colorado Rockies were downed 9-4 by the Diamondbacks, coughing up six runs (five earned) on six hits and a walk over two innings. He struck out one.Three of the hits off Gomber left the yard, including two by Corbin Carroll, as the southpaw stumbled through his shortest outing of the season. Gomber had been on a roll, working at least six innings in six straight trips to the mound with a 3.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB over 39 innings, but that hot streak came to crashing halt in Coors Field. He's scheduled to make one more start this year, facing the Cardinals at home next week.

Austin Gomber came away with a no-decision in Friday's 9-5 win over the Cubs, allowing two runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out four.The southpaw produced his third straight quality start and 12th of the season, tying the career high he set in 2023, but Gomber saw his sixth win of the year slip away when the Colorado bullpen coughed up the lead in the top of the eighth inning. Austin Gomber (3-8) was saddled with the loss Thursday, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk over three innings. He struck out one.Gomber allowed five extra-base hits in the first inning, with a two-run blast by Pete Alonso representing the biggest blow of the four runs given up.
