Gomber (5-11) took the loss Wednesday as the Rockies were downed 9-4 by the Diamondbacks, coughing up six runs (five earned) on six hits and a walk over two innings. He struck out one. Three of the hits off Gomber left the yard, including two by Corbin Carroll, as the southpaw stumbled through his shortest outing of the season. Gomber had been on a roll, working at least six innings in six straight trips to the mound with a 3.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB over 39 innings, but that hot streak came to crashing halt in Coors Field. He's scheduled to make one more start this year, facing the Cardinals at home next week.

Gomber came away with a no-decision in Friday's 9-5 win over the Cubs, allowing two runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out four. The southpaw produced his third straight quality start and 12th of the season, tying the career high he set in 2023, but Gomber saw his sixth win of the year slip away when the Colorado bullpen coughed up the lead in the top of the eighth inning. The 30-year-old has been sharp since the beginning of August, delivering six QS in eight trips to the mound while posting a 3.67 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 34:10 K:BB through 49 innings. Gomber will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Diamondbacks.

Gomber was reinstated from the paternity list Friday. He'll start Friday's game against the Cubs. As expected, Gomber will rejoin the team to make the start Friday. The left-hander has been impressive across his last five starts, logging a 3.00 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP with a 23:7 K:BB across 33 innings. Tanner Gordon was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.

The Rockies placed Gomber on the paternity list Tuesday. The left-hander was expected to start in the three-games series at Detroit that begins Tuesday, but he'll instead step away from the team for a few days to be with his growing family. Gomber could be back with the team -- and in the rotation -- for Friday's game versus the Cubs.

Gomber (5-10) earned the win over Atlanta on Thursday, allowing one run on five hits over eight innings while striking out six. Gomber ran into trouble in the opening frame when he surrendered three hits, leading to one run coming home for Atlanta. However, the lefty would allow only two more hits from that point on while going eight innings for only the second time this season. Gomber produced five 1-2-3 innings on the night and logged his highest strikeout total since Aug. 2. He's now gone six or more frames in five consecutive starts, going 2-2 over that stretch while posting a 23:7 K:BB.
