Mets' Johneshwy Fargas: Back with Mets organization
Johneshwy Fargas announced Saturday via his personal Twitter account that he signed a minor-league contract with the New York Mets. The speedy 27-year-old made his MLB debut with the Mets last season when the team was without numerous outfielders due to injury, but he eventually lost his spot on the 40-man roster in July once the team regained some health. He was then claimed off waivers by the Cubs and made a brief return to the majors, ultimately finishing his first big-league campaign with a .250/.264/.385 slash line in 54 plate appearances between his two stops. Now back with the Mets to begin the 2022 season, Fargas should get the opportunity to attend big-league camp as a non-roster invitee, but he'll be a long shot to win a spot on New York's Opening Day roster.
