Report: Pedro Feliciano nears minor-league deal with Cubs
Pitcher Pedro Feliciano is expected to sign a minor league contract with a major league invite with the Chicago Cubs, reports FOX Sports' Jon Morosi. The deal is expected to be a base salary of $700,000. The former Mets' reliever signed a minor-league deal with the Cardinals a year ago but was released in August. He has a career ERA of 3.33.

The St. Louis Cardinals released pitcher Pedro Feliciano from his minor-league contract, Baseball America reports Tuesday. Feliciano had a 5.57 ERA in 21 innings at Triple-A Memphis since signing his minor-league deal.

Seven Mets declare free agency
New York Mets starting pitcher Aaron Harang, relief pitcher LaTroy Hawkins, starting pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka, relief pitcher David Aardsma, relief pitcher Tim Byrdak, relief pitcher Pedro Feliciano and relief pitcher Frank Francisco have filed for free agency. Hawkins and Francisco both spent time as the Mets closer, but Bobby Parnell is expected to fill that role in 2014.

Report: Mets expected to make trades soon
The New York Mets are reportedly looking to get rid of some players, according to ESPNNewYork.com. At least five players are currently going through waivers, and the team is expected to make at least one deal. Marlon Byrd, John Buck and Pedro Feliciano are the most likely candidates to be moved. The team brought Anthony Recker, Matt den Dekker and Robert Carson to New York in case they make a deal. Those players would be activated if Byrd, Buck or Feliciano are dealt.

Pedro Filiciano returns with consecutive appearances
The New York Mets did not wait long to put reliever Pedro Feliciano to use, as he pitched in both Friday and Saturday's extra-inning games against the Royals. Feliciano tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings over two appearances, in his first appearances since 2010. Feliciano has been unable to pitch in the minors over the previous two seasons due to a variety of injuries, including ones to his left shoudler that required surgery.

New York Mets reliever Pedro Feliciano had his contract selected from Triple-A Las Vegas Friday, to replace Josh Edgin, who had to be placed on the disabled list with a fractured rib. Feliciano has not pitched in the majors since 2010, due to complications from shoulder surgery in 2011 and then a heart issue earlier in the season.

New York Mets reliever Pedro Feliciano, who had been dealing with a severe case of food poisoning, joined Double-A Binghamton Friday, according to ESPN. Feliciano had not pitched since May 3 at Class A St. Lucie because of the illness.
