Astros' Zach Dezenzo: Joining big-league club
The Houston Astros selected Zach Dezenzo's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.Dezenzo will make his MLB debut despite having missed the first two months of the season while recovering from a wrist injury and having appeared in merely 11 games at the Triple-A level. While he doesn't have much experience at the highest level of the minors, Dezenzo was highly impressive at Sugar Land following his promotion from Double-A Corpus Christi in late July. Over 53 plate appearances at Triple-A, Dezenzo slashed .391/.472/.739 with four home runs, three stolen bases and an 18.9 percent strikeout rate. The 24-year-old is capable of playing both corner-infield spots, but with Alex Bregman entrenched at third base, Dezenzo will most likely get his first look at the big-league level at first base and designated hitter.
