Nationals 2B Dan Uggla hits first homer since late April in win over Mets
Washington Nationals second baseman Dan Uggla went 1 for 1 with a solo home in a 2-0 win over the New York Mets on Saturday. That marks his second homer of the season and seeing his name pop up is a surprise in itself. The once power-hitting second baseman has been relegated to bench duties, as his average has plummeted and power has dropped off significantly in recent years. Uggla will likely have trouble finding a roster spot on any team come next season.

Nationals 2B Dan Uggla nails three hits and doesn't fan Sunday
Washington Nationals second baseman Dan Uggla received a rare start in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday and took advantage of it. Uggla managed his first three-hit game since April 28. He added a walk and continued to cut down on his strikeouts with none in the game. He feels that his hard work and patience are paying off. "Just doing my routine every day, getting my work in, and once the game comes or an at-bat comes, I know I've already done my work and I'm ready to go," Uggla told the Washington Post. "I've been feeling good for awhile now, and it's nice to get some at-bats in a row and contribute." His .235 average is at its highest point of the season. Uggla has fanned just nine times in his last 37 at-bats, which, given his history, must be considered a triumph.
