Rockies' Cole Carrigg: Active at Double-A

Cole Carrigg is hitting .270 with one home run, three steals and seven strikeouts in nine games since returning from a suspension at Double-A Hartford.A conflict with an umpire led to Carrigg missing a few games earlier this month, but he's still played a career-high 123 games this season. Carrigg's strikeout rate jumped from 19 percent last year at High-A to 27 percent this year at Double-A, but he still showed an intriguing combination of power (15 homers) and speed (46 steals).

Rockies' Cole Carrigg: Suspended at Double-A

Cole Carrigg was suspended on Sept. 2 at Double-A Hartford after getting ejected from an Aug. 31 game against Portland.Carrigg slammed his helmet after getting called out on an attempted steal of third base and was ejected and then made a scene in between innings arguing with the umpire who ejected him. It's unclear how many games he will miss, but Hartford's season wraps up Sept. 14. Carrigg's hit tool looked stronger a year ago, as his strikeout rate jumped from 19 percent at High-A to 27.8 percent at Double-A while his batting average dipped from .280 to .234. He is an excellent athlete and has logged 40-plus steals in back-to-back seasons while showcasing average pull-side power. A 107 wRC+ is a middling mark for a 23-year-old at Double-A, but if Carrigg can find his way into a regular role for the Colorado Rockies in a year or two, his speed will make him valuable in fantasy, at least in his home games.

Rockies' Cole Carrigg: Over 50 steals at High-A

Cole Carrigg is slashing .280/.358/.475 with 16 home runs, 51 steals and a 19 percent strikeout rate in 111 games for High-A Spokane.A switch-hitting, high-energy player with exciting tools, Carrigg has yet to be tested with a challenging assignment, but he's excelled at every stop since getting drafted with the 65th overall pick in 2023. At the time he was drafted, it seemed he could end up at any of the three premium up-the-middle positions. This year, Carrig made 92 starts in center field and 13 starts at shortstop, with his time behind the dish seemingly a thing of the past. He has done more damage in the hitter-friendly park in Spokane (.903 OPS) than on the road (.797 OPS), but his eight road homers and .465 road slugging percentage are still encouraging marks given that power was the main question with Carrigg coming into the year.
