Cavan Biggio RF | HOU
Braves' Cavan Biggio: Added to roster
Atlanta selected Biggio's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.
Biggo was acquired via trade from the Giants over the weekend and now joins the major-league roster after just one game at Gwinnett. He could get some chances at second base if Whit Merrifield's foot injury continues to linger. Biggio has slashed just .197/.316/.306 at the big-league level in 2024.

Xander Bogaerts SS | SD
Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Starts at shortstop Tuesday
Bogaerts started at shortstop and went 0-for-4 win Tuesday's 7-3 win against the Mariners.
San Diego had been considering moving Bogaerts from second to shortstop with the timeline for Ha-Seong Kim (shoulder) to return from the IL looking murky. Bogaerts' start at shortstop was his first of the campaign, though he had been used there four times previously this year and had played almost exclusively at the position before shifting to second base to begin this season. Jake Cronenworth shifted from first base to second Tuesday while Donovan Solano started at first base, and that could be the most common configuration for the Padres moving forward -- at least against right-handed pitchers -- for as long as Kim remains sidelined.

Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC
Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Tallies three hits in win
Hoerner went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.
Hoerner tallied his fifth multi-hit effort over his last nine games and has now notched at least one hit in 12 of his last 15 games. Hoerner lacks power but remains one of the Cubs' most consistent hitters and leads the team with 28 stolen bases. For the year, he's slashing .263/.330/.356 with five homers, 42 RBI, 76 runs and a 41:63 BB:K in 576 plate appearances.

Gavin Lux SS | TB
Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Resting versus lefty
Lux isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Cubs, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.
The lefty-hitting Lux will grab a seat on the bench Tuesday as southpaw Shota Imanaga toes the slab for Chicago. Enrique Hernandez will fill the void at second base and bat eighth while Lux rests.

Brett Wisely 2B | ATL
Giants' Brett Wisely: Absent from lineup Tuesday
Wisely is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Brewers.
Wisely will begin the game on the bench for the second consecutive day. Since the start of September, the second baseman has just one hit and two walks in 14 plate appearances across the five games he has played in. Marco Luciano is starting at second base and batting ninth Tuesday as he sees his playing time expand.

Whit Merrifield 2B | ATL
Braves' Whit Merrifield: Absence continuing Tuesday
Merrifield (foot) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.
It's hardly a surprise that Merrifield is on the bench for a fourth straight game, as he said Saturday after suffering a foot fracture that he's hopeful to return for the three-game series versus the Dodgers that begins Friday. Luke Williams will receive another start at second base Tuesday for Atlanta.

Jonathan India 2B | KC
Reds' Jonathan India: Returning to action Tuesday
India (elbow) is starting at second base and batting leadoff Tuesday against the Cardinals.
The 27-year-old sat out of Monday's matchup with Atlanta after he exited Sunday's contest due to left elbow discomfort, but his absence will be limited to one game. India is looking to bust out of a mini-slump, as he's gone 0-for-13 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch and five strikeouts in his past four contests.

Eddy Alvarez RF | ATL
Mets' Eddy Alvarez: Added to big-league roster
The Mets acquired Alvarez from the Red Sox on Sunday and selected his contract ahead of Monday's series opener in Toronto.
With Jeff McNeil (wrist) landing on the injured list over the weekend, Alvarez will step into the utility role off the New York bench that was vacated by Jose Iglesias, who is now expected to fill in for McNeil as the Mets' everyday second baseman the rest of the way. A 34-year-old switch hitter, Alvarez last saw big-league action in 2022 with the Dodgers and owned a .247/.348/.463 slash line with 18 home runs and 18 stolen bases in 114 games for Triple-A Worcester this season before he was dealt to the Mets.

Luke Williams SS | ATL
Braves' Luke Williams: Filling in for Merrifield
Williams will start at second base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Reds.
With Whit Merrifield (foot) likely out until the weekend, Williams should be in store for a look as Atlanta's primary second baseman. Williams will pick up his fifth start in six contests after opening September with a .231 average, two stolen bases, two RBI and one run over 13 at-bats.
