Chavis was called up from Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

The 23-year-old joins the big-league club ahead of the weekend series in Tampa Bay with a serious chance at heavy playing time, as Dustin Pedroia (knee), Eduardo Nunez (back) and Brock Holt (eye) are all on the injured list. Chavis has been receiving starts at second base with Pawtucket through the first few weeks of the season and will seemingly have those skills tested at the major-league level. The Red Sox's top prospect slashed .250/.354/.600 with four home runs in 12 games at Triple- A.

Garcia went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for Double-A Harrisburg on Thursday.

The teenager understandably had a shaky start to his first season in the high minors, but Garcia made some quick adjustments and had four multi-hit performances in his last nine games, boosting his slash line to .264/.273/.283. Now the Nats' top fantasy prospect after Victor Robles lost his rookie status, Garcia is still a month away from his 19th birthday, so even though only one of his hits so far (a double) has gone for extra bases and his 1:11 BB:K is poor, if he can just hold his own in the Eastern League against much older competition, it will be an impressive feat.

Beckham 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Thursday's 9-7 win over the White Sox.

Beckham recorded his first multi-hit game of the season as well as his first steal. The 32-year-old should continue to see regular playing time at shortstop while Jordy Mercer (quadriceps) is out, though Mercer's absence isn't expected to be particularly lengthy.

Clement was placed on the 7-day injured list Thursday with an adductor strain.

Clement was hitting just .120/.185/.200 through six games with Double-A Akron before landing on the shelf. It's unclear how long the issue will keep him sidelined at this point.

Lowe went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Wednesday's 8-1 win over the Orioles.

The 24-year-old continues to impress at the plate. Lowe has a seven-game hitting streak going and is slashing .300/.358/.617 through 17 contests with five homers, two steals, 10 runs and 13 RBI. Joey Wendle (hamstring) is on target to return to action this weekend, but given Lowe's performance to date, manager Kevin Cash will almost certainly continue to find room for him in the starting lineup, whether at second base or elsewhere.

Franklin (quad) will play his first rehab game for High-A Bradenton on Wednesday, John Perrotto of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Franklin missed all of spring training after straining his quad early in camp. Upon completion of his rehab, he should return to Triple-A Indianapolis and serve as organizational depth.

Bae was suspended for 30 games without pay for violating the Minor League Baseball Player Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

This suspension stems from an incident that occurred in South Korea with Bae's girlfriend at the time. The 29-year-old shortstop will be eligible to return in mid-May.

Beckham is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Pirates, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Beckham started the first two games with Jordy Mercer (quadriceps) on the injured list. Ronny Rodriguez gets the call at shortstop Wednesday.

Merrifield is not in the lineup Wednesday against the White Sox, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Merrifield will head to the bench for what appears to be a well-deserved breather after starting the first 17 games of the season for the Royals, slashing .311/.342/.486 with a pair of homers and five stolen bases in those contests. Chris Owings is starting at the keystone in this one, with Jorge Soler in right field and Lucas Duda at DH.

McNeil will start in left field and serve as the Mets' leadoff hitter in Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

McNeil has previously served as the Mets' table setter on three occasions, but he had dropped to the bottom half of the lineup in each of the past three games. With typical leadoff man Brandon Nimmo (neck) sitting out, McNeil will get another look atop the lineup, but it's likely the 27-year-old will shift back down in the order over the weekend in St. Louis if Nimmo's injury proves to be a short-term concern.
