David DeJesus: Playing days over
David DeJesus officially announced his retirement from professional baseball Wednesday on his personal Twitter account.The 37-year-old DeJesus, who sat out the 2016 season after failing to attract many intriguing offers in free agency, will finish his career with a respectable .275/.349/.412 slash line across parts of 13 seasons. He'll now transition to a broadcasting career, covering the Cubs for CSN Chicago.

David DeJesus: Option declined
David DeJesus had his club option declined Friday.The move doesn't come as much of a surprise, as DeJesus struggled mightily after joining the Angels in a midseason trade, slashing just .125/.183/.143 in 56 at bats. He'll turn 36 over the offseason and has struggled to hit even .250 for the past few seasons, but he could find a spot as an extra outfielder somewhere in free agency.

New Angels' acquisitions give Kole Calhoun a day off
Los Angeles Angels right fielder Kole Calhoun isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game. It's just the fifth time this year that Calhoun hasn't started. Newly acquired Shane Victorino and David DeJesus start in right and left field respectively. DeJesus becomes the 10th Angel to start in left this season.

Angels acquire OF David DeJesus from Rays
The Los Angeles Angels announced they have acquired outfielder David DeJesus from the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. DeJesus has had a solid year so far in 2015, batting .259 with a .323 on-base percentage. The Angels have successfully re-tooled their outfield, acquiring DeJesus, David Murphy and Shane Victorino in less than 24 hours. In return, the Rays are receiving minor-league pitcher Eduar Lopez. The right-hander made eight starts with the Angels' rookie league team this season. He went 2-2 with a 4.32 ERA in 33 1/3 innings.

Rays OF David DeJesus slides into No. 2 spot
As the Tampa Bay Rays search for an offensive spark, their lineup is once again juggled for Monday's contest against the Tigers, with left-fielder David DeJesus hitting in the second spot of the lineup for just the fourth time this season. With normal two-hole hitters Steven Souza Jr. and Joey Butler both slumping, the Rays will turn to DeJesus, although he is hitting just .200 in July and .091 over his last seven games. He is, however, 2-for-3 career against Tigers starter Anibel Sanchez and 4-for-11 with a home run out of the two spot.

Tampa Bay Rays left fielder David DeJesus went 2 for 3 in Sunday's win over Houston. DeJesus tripled for the second time this year, and first since June 18. He drove in a run for the second straight day. DeJesus is 5 for 14 with two multi-hit games in the last five. He's scored four runs over that span.

Rays' David DeJesus clubs fifth home run Sunday
Tampa Bay Rays left fielder David DeJesus went 2 for 4 with a walk and a solo home run in his team's 9-5 win over the Orioles on Sunday. DeJesus was part of an excellent offensive performance by the Rays that featured four players with multiple hits. His seventh-inning home run increased his team's lead to five runs before the Orioles got a pair of runs back with their own homer in the bottom half of the inning. DeJesus has hit .333/.383/.504 with five home runs and 19 RBI in 123 at-bats.
