DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Sits for second straight game
LeMahieu is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Reds, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
This marks the second consecutive contest that LeMahieu will watch from the bench. It's unclear if this is a result of lingering soreness from the groin cramp that ailed him over the weekend or if it's just a way of easing him back into action. Until LeMahieu is good to go, Alexi Amarista will man the keystone.

Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Heads to bench Tuesday
LeMahieu is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds, Jenny Cavnar of Root Sports Rocky Mountain reports.
Despite collecting five hits over the past two games (5-for-9), LeMahieu will head to the bench for what appears to be a scheduled day of rest. Alexi Amarista is starting in his place at the keystone.

Jace Peterson SS | ARI
Braves' Jace Peterson: Sent back to minors
Peterson was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
Peterson was sent back to the minors to make room for Freddie Freeman (wrist), who was activated from the disabled list in a corresponding move. The 27-year-old owns an unimpressive .183/.274/.242 triple slash through 47 games (120 at-bats) with the Braves this season, so he'll head back to the minors, where he'll continue to serve as organizational depth.

Jeimer Candelario 3B | LAA
Cubs' Jeimer Candelario: Sent back to Triple-A
Candelario (knee) was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.
Candelario had been nursing a sore knee and had been seeing reduced playing time anyway, making him a logical roster casualty to make room for the activation of Jason Heyward. He did see three starts in his most recent stint, but including pinch-hit appearances, was just 2-for-12 at the plate over that span. Look for Candelario to be back down the stretch if the Cubs again find themselves in need of infield help.

Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA
Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Gets day off Wednesday
Rendon is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Mets, Jamal Collier of MLB.com reports.
After playing Monday evening in the series opener, Rendon will get a breather due to the quick turnaround for the Fourth of July contest, which starts at 11:05 a.m. local time. It will mark Rendon's first day off since June 20, ending a streak of 12 consecutive starts during which he carried a 1.108 OPS. Stephen Drew will fill in for Rendon at the hot corner and bat seventh.

Ildemaro Vargas 1B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ildemaro Vargas: Sent back to minors
Vargas was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Monday.
Vargas only saw action in two games during his brief stint with the Diamondbacks, going 0-for-2 with a strikeout before being sent back to the minors. With A.J. Pollock (groin) nearing a return from injury, it appears the 25-year-old was sent back to Reno to make room on the roster for him. An official corresponding roster move is expected to be announced before the team heads to LA to face the Dodgers on Tuesday. Vargas could return to the big club later in the season, but it would take a few injuries to the Diamondbacks' infield for him to see consistent playing time.

Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA
Cardinals' Patrick Wisdom: Showing impressive power in Triple-A
Wisdom is slashing .257/.316/.493 with 16 home runs and 51 RBI across 301 plate appearances in 75 games for Triple-A Memphis.
The 25-year-old third baseman has an additional 16 extra-base hits in the form of 15 doubles and a triple, and he's seen a sizable boost in overall hard contact this season. Wisdom logged 78 games at the Triple-A level in 2016 as well, but managed only five homers, a .233 average and .141 ISO. The latter figure has jumped up nearly 100 points to .237 in 2017, which helps offset an increase in strikeout rate from 24.7 percent to 28.9 percent. Wisdom's .493 slugging percentage is also his best in any minor-league stop in which he's played at least 25 games, as are his 16 round trippers. The one conundrum with respect to a potential ascension for Wisdom is that the corner infield spots at the major-league level are currently in the capable hands of Jedd Gyorko and Matt Carpenter.

Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA
Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Hitting fifth Sunday
Rendon (knee) is starting at third base and hitting fifth Sunday against the Cardinals, Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post reports.
He was a little sore after tumbling over a railing in foul territory to make a catch in Saturday's game, but it is not painful enough for him to miss Sunday night's game against St. Louis. Since the start of June, Rendon is hitting .310/.417/.643 with seven home runs and more walks (15) than strikeouts (11).

DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Returns to lineup Sunday
LeMahieu (groin) is starting at second base and batting second during Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
LeMahieu was removed from Tuesday's game with a right groin cramp and was sidelined for the following three contests. After several days of rest, the hot-hitting second baseman is set to rejoin the Rockies lineup ahead of their series finale against Taijuan Walker and the Diamondbacks.

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Banged up after catch Saturday
Manager Dusty Baker said Rendon is a little sore after tumbling over a railing in foul territory to make a catch Saturday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports.com reports.
Rendon made a fantastic catch on a Tommy Pham pop-up in the first inning, sprinting into foul territory before falling into the stands while making the play. The veteran third baseman was able to stay in the game following the incident, finishing 2-for-4 at the plate, but can be considered day-to-day heading into Sunday's series finale.
